At one point in time I thought this place was fairly decent. But it is quite the contrary! I'd been patronizing this dive for ... pretty close to almost a year now, 8 or 9 months, give or take. And I usually left a tip (at least 15%, usually more). But after all of my loyal support they finally show me their true nature. A week ago ( about August 28, 2026), I was a bit tired after the day's activities and decided to stop in at this particular Spirit of Texas spot and grab a to go order. When I got home and opened it I was very, very disappointed. They'd really ruined it. Instead of the chicken plate that I had requested and paid for, this was barbequed rib tips. Also, the extra piece of cornbread that I paid extra for wasn't included either. I called the restaurant and spoke with a fellow who identified himself as the manager. I informed him of the errant order, he apologized for the mistake and arrangements were discussed for a replacement. The following week when I visited the eatery for the specific purpose of obtaining the corrected order, the reception that I received was quite indifferent. Went to go try out a new place, never had authentic Texas BBQ and one of my friends from Texas recommended me this place. First and foremost, the atmosphere was great!! Right when I walked into the store I was greeted by the staff and it made me feel welcomed. The Staff were extremely helpful, Natalie was very nice and tentative and she was also patient which I am thankful for, I tend to be very picky. The gentlemen Arturo helped me with pick my sides, and he recommended me the potato’s which were very delicious!. . I tried the Picaña, the Dino rib, and the green beans with the pottage wedges. It was delicious! I will be coming back to this location!

Went for a hike of Rubidoux and a friend recommended we try out Spirit. Staff was very friendly and hospitable. I tried out some experimental habanero wings, brisket, spicy Mac and cheese, and corn bread. Great flavor and meats were soft and smoky. We were talking too long and my food got cold, really saps the quality, but a quick reheat brought it back to life. I’ll definitely be back.

We mentioned it was out first time and they’ll let you try some samples, so generous! The pork belly burnt ends were yummy. The other meats were great too, especially with their pickled onions, sweet crisp pickles, and their house bbq sauce. The potato wedges were unexpectedly spicy, and we liked them a lot. AROO! Worth the stop! Good ol’ delicious bbq by the pound! We had delicious beef brisket ends, ribs and all the fixin’s. We added sweet potatoes, spicy mac, beans, potato wedges, corn bread and ice cold sweet tea to wash it down. Don’t be afraid. Staff is super helpful and if you are nice you get a sample. Drop in!
